Adaptive Skills for College Transition

The fifth annual FCPS Mental Health and Wellness Conference will be held on
Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Fairfax High School from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Dr. Scott Brabrand, FCPS Superintendent, will open the conference. Dr. Amy Przeworski, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Case Reserve Western University, will be the keynote speaker.

Participants in this conference will be able to choose from a wide variety of options for each of three breakout sessions, and there will be many resource tables available representing public and private agencies providing services within our schools and community.

Sajjad A. Khan, PhD, LCSW, of NeuroScience, Inc. will be having a breakout session.
The session will focus on the skills necessary for successful transition to college. The presentation will include discussion of executive functioning, self-regulation, and social skills. The workshop will cover environmental stressors, assessments, and treatment approaches. Specific conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and mood disorders will also be discussed.
