Anxiety
When anxiety and fear interfere with daily living and normal functioning, it is helpful to undertake treatment with trained professionals. Examples of anxiety disorders treated at NeuroScience, Inc. are Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Social Phobia, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, and anxiety caused by a medical condition.
Symptoms of an anxiety disorder may include excessive worrying, tension, apprehension, dread, fear, distress, and feelings of powerlessness. Physical symptoms linked to anxiety are shortness of breath, trembling, fatigue, muscle tension, nervousness, weakness, tingling, ulcers, headaches, racing heart, nausea, sweating, diarrhea, high blood pressure, and vomiting.
Untreated anxiety may contribute to low esteem, poor performance at work and school, substance abuse, poor social skills, impaired relationships, and difficulties with learning and concentration. Anxiety in children is often overlooked or misdiagnosed; however, many anxiety disorders in adults are manifested in childhood.
At NeuroScience, Inc., treatment for anxiety disorders includes cognitive behavioral therapy and instruction in relaxation techniques, including yoga and meditation.
