Alex Epperly, MA

At NeuroScience, Alex has a key role in providing evidence-based coaching services (research supported and translated for implementation in a variety of settings). Although many coaching services rely heavily on experience, intuition, and anecdote, coaching methodology at NSI uses the latest outcome studies in the behavioral sciences to develop and implement coaching interventions. Alex extends the clinical services of NSI providers to coaching-assisted practice in a variety of real-life settings.

Since 2014, Alex has worked closely with his NSI colleagues to provide supportive coaching services in keeping with clients’ goals and values. Working with child, adolescent, and adult clients suffering from ADHD, OCD, social anxiety, major depression, autism spectrum, and other psychological challenges, Alex facilitates progress by creating, structuring, and implementing opportunities to practice skills necessary to develop confidence and competency. Progress is measured by reaching milestones developed by the treatment team.

Alex holds a Masters of Professional Studies in Clinical Psychological Science from the University of Maryland-College Park. This graduate program prepares its students to be critical consumers of psychological and behavioral research and to develop measurable strategies to address real-life challenges. Alex worked for 16 months as a research assistant in both the Maryland ADHD Program under Dr. Andrea Chronis-Tuscano and the Center for Addiction, Personality, and Emotion Research (CAPER) laboratories under Dr. Carl Lejuez.

Alex also holds a dual B.A. in Sociology and Spanish Language Arts from the University of Oregon. He taught English in public high schools in Spain for two years and then completed a year-long internship with the Office of Rehabilitation and Development at the Public Defender Service of Washington, D.C.  Alex also taught English as a Second Language at a public alternative school in Washington, D.C.

Coaching services with Alex can be arranged individually or can be accessed as part of a comprehensive treatment program coordinated through a primary provider at NSI. For services outside the office (meeting at a client’s home or other location), fees are assessed based on time of departure and return to the office. As is the case for coaching in general, Alex’s services are not reimbursed by insurance.
