The Support Group for Teen Females, led by Dr. Erin Kardel, focuses on learning and implementing skills to change unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors, especially related to anxiety, stress, and depression.  Participants develop the tools and skills to manage symptoms, using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches to reduce symptoms and to change patterns that are causing distress.  Group members explore the cognitive and behavioral components of anxiety and other symptoms to help identify and understand how thoughts impact emotions, experiences, and physiological functioning.   They develop the ability to manage strong emotions, become more self-aware, and tolerate uncomfortable feelings.   They experience social support, reinforcement, and peer modeling opportunities.    Participants are guided to develop specific goals and commit to practicing in the interim between sessions.
