The co-ed Teen Social Anxiety Group, led by Dr. Lisa Bateman, addresses symptoms of social anxiety, including but not limited to anxiety about talking to new people, initiating conversations, keeping conversations going, answering questions in a classroom setting, and public speaking.
The group uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, as evidence suggests that exposure therapy is one of the most effective methods for addressing social anxiety. The group provides a supportive environment for learning and practicing social skills with peers and a licensed therapist.
Each group session includes instruction about and implementation of new skills, motivational strategies to promote success, in-session exercises, and homework assignments to be completed prior to the next session.
